Meet our clinicians: John and Gerri Laudie

Each year John and Gerri Laudie are kind enough to dedicate three days at our gym as the main clinicians for our annual girls team camp. We would like to take the time to express how fortunate we are to have them as our special guests. We would also like to share with you what it is that makes both of these individuals not only great coaches, but great people!

Born on January 11th 1964, Gerri Laudie was not actually introduced to the world of gymnastics until she was an adult. With a strong dance background, it did not take long for Mrs. Laudie to acquire a love of gymnastics. With all five of her children being involved in the sport, it would almost be impossible not to develop an interest.

When asked what coaching meant to her, Gerri replied "I feel like I am a positive influence on the kids. Good character and integrity are more important than teaching any skill."

Specifically, Mrs. Laudie mentioned times where she felt successful including experiences such as having poems written about her, being nominated for kindness awards, and even having children return to the sport after prolonged breaks just because of the impact she had on their lives.

Naturally, Gerri Laudie feels like gymnastics is the greatest sport even beyond physicality and we could not agree more!

Also born in 1964, but coming from a completely different background (wrestling!) John Laudie has produced the same success and benefit as his wife. John began his involvement in the sport as a Junior in high school. As many men before and after him have, Mr. Laudie initiated participation in gymnastics to strengthen his flexibility, endurance, and motor control for the other sports he was involved in.

Owning and operating his own gymnastics club, EDGE Gymnastics in Kansas City, John has coached alongside the best including Bela Karolyi and Steve Nunno! In John's book, a successful coach is one who can take an athlete competing at any level and help them achieve their highest ability.

"We love Bill, his family, and the type of people they are.." John also mentioned how fortunate he feels to have a career centered around his family, much like the Grogan's.
