A high-five here, and the occasional vertical jumping up and down in a hug when they finally get that kip. Physical Touch is probably the go-to language when you think of ways to express your feelings to other people. In fact, I am not going to be giving examples in this post, I am going to give you the counter perspective.
Like I have mentioned before, these 5 love languages may be used in combination. The same can be said about ones that some people might not enjoy at all. You might notice that a certain child will not respond to a certain language, and it is even possible for them not to feel comfortable with this language at all.
Physical Touch can very easily feel invasive or uncomfortable for some children. You will notice which gymnasts probably do not enjoy getting bear hugs as a congratulations or "good job" in practice. These children do not offer physical touch to other kids or to other coaches. There is nothing wrong with this. It is simply not their love language.
Keep an eye out for gymnasts who respond to this love language. They will be the ones playing with each others hair, clapping in hand games, and even wresting with each other.
This is not always the case, but you might notice a student who does not seem to identify with a specific coach or group of kid. This may be a child who does not enjoy physical touch. It is not that they do not like coach for a specific reason, they just might be receiving some subconscious red-flags that are telling them they do not like something about their experiences with a person communicating with them using Physical Touch.
